The opened the season with a 26-21 win on the road against what is widely regarded as a very good New York Giants football team. Though it wasn't spectacular, the Colts played consistently overall, made few mistakes and got key turnovers at critical points in the game. Here's a breakdown of how each segment of Jets 6 Sanchez Jersey
the team did:QuarterbackThe Good: Peyton Manning did nothing to dispel the notion that he is the best in the league Sunday night. He seemed confident, well prepared and, unlike his younger brother Eli, in command of his team's offense. Like an on-the-field coach, Manning guided the Colts on several sustained scoring drives. The Bad: He ended up only having one interception thrown but potentially could have had a couple more. Giants defenders dropped what would have certainly changed the outcome of the game early on.Running backsThe Good: Dominic Rhodes looked strong on several third-down conversions and scored from one yard out. Joseph Addai had a couple of powerful runs that flashed his potential. The Bad: Rhodes ended up averaging only 1.8 yards per carry. Addai, the bigger of the two backs, wasn't effective running between the tackles.Wide receiversThe Good: Marvin Harrison ran the precision routes he always has and finished with over 100 yards. He's starting to resemble a smaller version of Jerry Rice, and it wouldn't be surprising if he, too, is productive into his early 40s. Reggie Wayne wasn't targeted as much as usual but made several tough catches in traffic. Dallas Clark and Ben Utecht both had solid games and ended up with three catches apiece. The Bad: Aaron Moorehead is no Brandon Stokley. In the few snaps he took with the offense, he didn't record a single reception. Certainly Tony Dungy is anxious to get Stokley back on the field to give opposing defenses another offensive threat to account for.Offensive lineThe Good: The Colts gave up only one quarterback sack. The Bad: Their ground game managed just 55 total rushing yards.DefenseThe Good: The unit bent but didn't break, and allowed only 21 points on the road against a potent Giants offense. The defense also got two turnovers at key points in the game. The Bad: Gave up 433 yards. Corners were consistently beaten by bigger receivers.Special teamsThe Good: Adam Vinatieri booted four field goals and two extra points while showing zero ill effects from the strained ligament that kept him out most of the preseason. Terrence Wilkins averaged almost 28 yards per kick return and ran with speed and confidence. Rob 4 Brett Favre White jersey
Morris had five special teams tackles. The Bad: Nothing that was obvious. The Colts' overall good performance in the opener has to make them feel good going into their next four games against Houston, Jacksonville, the New York Jets and Tennessee. Consistently fast starters, Indianapolis could very well jump out to a 5-0 or 4-1 record in the AFC South division.Get more
